Laboratory
The laboratory at GRH is like the "chemistry lab" in a science movie. Body fluids of the patient are taken, analyzed and results given on paper in the form of numbers!
It is very fascinating for the lay-person to see all that. In reality, the steps for getting a laboratory test done are as follows.
- The doctor finds an abnormality and orders a test
- The patient then pays the bill at the cashier
- Appropriate body fluid is collected painlessly e.g. blood, urine, stool, sputum.
- The fluid is then processed by mixing it with testing solutions.
- Diferent equipment is used e.g. microscope, machinery, centrifuge, analyzers and the result is obtained.
- this result is then handed over to the patient.,
- The time taken depends on the investigation done. some tests are reported in an hour and others may take up to one week.

GRH Laboratory even provides Out-Reach Laboratory services to those islands of South Central Province which do not have a Lab. facility.
For the investigation which are unavailabe at GRH, the sample is collected and sent to IGMH. Kindly contact the Lab for further details.
