OUT PATIENT DEPARTMENT
The out patient Department of GRH is the "catchment" area of the hospital. The steps that one has to go through in the OPD are
- Visit the OPD area and take a waiting slip.
- Wait for the reception to call your slip number
- Either you can choose the doctor you would like to visit or you can briefly tell your complaints to the recpetion staff who will direct you to the OPD.
- The reception staff will issue a token number after registering you in the system
- You wait outside the OPD till your token number is called.
- The visit to the doctor is a private affair. Confidentiality is maintained and the verbal exchange/examination findings are strictly a secret.
- After history and examination, the doctor will either ask for investigations, refer to another doctor, prescribe medicine or advise admission.
GRH has OPDs run by Medical Officers and Consultants from different specialties. The Medical Officer mans the casualty and is the first doctor of contact for any emergency cases. He also runs a general OPD.
The specialties available in GRH are
| Physician | Specialist of Internal Medicine. Handles Disease of Various bodily systems using medicines as a sheet anchor of therapy. Also runs the Non-Communicable Diseases NCD clinic. |
| Pediatrician | Specialist of Children (age range of neonates to 16 years). They also handle new borns after delivery, admit patients in NICU. |
| Surgeon | Specialist of Operative Treatment. Handles diseases of various bodily systems and uses medicines and Surgery as a sheet anchor of therapy. Rest assured that all operative interventions are rendered painless by anesthesia. |
| Orthopedician | Specialst of Bone diseases.Handles all bone, joint and muscle related diseases. Fractures, joint pains, back ache are handled by this doctor. Uses medicine, surgery andphysiotherapy as a sheet anchor of treatment. |
| Gynecologist | Specialist of Womanhood and Motherhood. Deals with the diseases of the female reproductive system. Uses medicine and surgery as a sheet anchor of treatment. |
| Anesthetist | Specialist of rendering operations painless. Uses medicnes to make body parts or the whole body completely pain free. Also handles ICU patients on ventilators. |
| Ophthalmologist | Specialist of the eyes. Uses medicine and surgery as a sheet anchor of treatment. |
| ENT | Specialistof Ear Nose and Throat. All complaints pertaining to these are handled by this doctor. Uses medicine and surgery as a sheet anchor of treatment. |
| Dentist | Specialist of Teeth. All ailments of teeth and gums are dealt by this doctor. |
